It’s Day 2 of Level 3 in the Waikato. Facebook and Instagram and Whatsapp are down.
I read earlier on Twitter that all we need now is some kind of huge storm or earthquake and we could probably be reassured that this is the end of the world.

But that seems a bit too defeatist. Even for me right now. We always knew it was only a matter of time before Delta escaped Auckland (everyone manages to get out of Auckland eventually).

In the last seven weeks, I have had a total of three meals not in my house, two takeaways delivered to my house and have worked in our city office twice. Don’t get me wrong, I love my house and I didn’t mind Lockdown v1 in April last year but this time around, I’m struggling a bit more than I expected I would. So I am back to write about it, journal about it and get it out so I can create my own plan around how I deal with it.

Last month I started a photo challenge however in true me style, I did 2 of the 4 challenges. Well, actually I think 1.5 is more accurate. The Four Challenges are; Pockets of Light, Ziplock Bag or Gladwrap Shooting, Slow Shutter and Self Portrait. I’m going to redo them over October which is also the first month of the BFT 8 Week Challenge and Sober October for me …. from today – because I finished the last glass of wine in the house last night.

Seeing as we are here already and there are no socials to mindlessly scroll through, let’s do a Currently and see what else has been happening around here?

Doing: this weekend just past I submitted my last assignment for the year. That means 7 papers are complete and there is only 1 left in order for me to finish my Diploma. Schools out for summer! I am trying really really hard not to insert anything that requires significant time or effort into the space that study vacates. My head needs a break. The only thing I want to do is be a bit more creative.

Watching: We have just finished the short Netflix series Clickbait and have started American Rust. I’ll be honest, Love Island and The Circle remain on our lists too (although The Circle season has finished for now and I was not happy with last seasons winner). I’m sure we still had episodes of Ru Paul’s Drag Race to finish too but I’ve started and not finished so much junk that I need to do a bit of a streaming service tidy up. We are stoked to see Free Guy come up on Disney over the weekend so we watched that … and it was just as I hoped, easy and good!

Reading: ummmm …. hands up who hasn’t picked up a book (real or Kindle or app) in quite some time. Yeah, that would be me. In February I talked about starting a new Ken Follet book … that’s still a work in progress. Summer holiday goals.

Making: Photographs. Being creative. Giving myself an outlet. I started Photo a Day at the start of the month. Going to see where that takes me using the prompts I didn’t complete from last month. Perhaps I should also put it here … making time to be creative.

Planning: NOTHING! This year I’ve become very very aware of my tendency to create massive To-Do lists for myself. I am actively concentrating on keeping that list to Must Do’s only. Which, I can quite happily say, there are very few of in Level 3.

Being Content With: Being at home, the house being a bit messy, the dogs’ paws being a bit dirty, the carpet needing to be vacuumed daily. And being fully vaccinated because I give more than two shits about the people around me.
