Lots and lots and lots of news for this weeks post!
Once again, I’m surprised that it is already Tuesday evening and tomorrow will be Hump Day.  In case you hadn’t already worked it out, I love the term ‘Hump Day’ and the whole idea that we’re in the middle of the week and on the downward slide to the weekend.  More than once I’ve blogged about it;

I hate dark stairs.  And cobwebs.  One of the words for Photo A Day April was “Stairs” and Ken posted a photo of the stairs to the garage/basement in his house.
Those stairs – and the thought of going down there – scares the shite out of me!  So in the spirit of getting the fuck out of Dodge, here’s whats been happening ..

Amateur Photographer Competition

Everyone is probably sick to death from hearing about it …. I entered the D-Photo Nikon Amateur Photographer of the Year Competition 2012.
I was really happy with my entries (until I saw them stacked up against the others) however there will be judging and only one People’s Choice section.  Which means I don’t have to go begging for votes.  I have blogged all the entries if you haven’t seen them yet – in which case I need to ask “where the bloody hell have you been?”

And the Phone Camera entries too

Just for fun I also submitted a couple of iPhone photographs to another of DPhoto Magazines competitions.
Whilst I really don’t like the whole voting system and begging for Likes that it generates, it does get your name (my name) out there a wee bit.
Here is my favourite out of my entries;

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels!

Have wheels, will travel!

My poor darling wee Golf is in serious need of some mechanic’s loving – and some serious money.  So I haven’t fully decided what to do with her yet but in the mean time, I’ve bought a little second hand car to cruise around in.  She’s a little silver Peugeot – which Ken’s kids have called Silvie.  Very french!

Abby’s Advanced Open Water

This weekend I did some scuba diving and some teaching at the Poor Knights.
I love being out on the water – and you all know that I love diving – and this weekend was special in that one of my students was Rachael’s daughter Abby.  I did Rachael’s advanced nearly 2 years ago and her daughter Abby has just turned 14.  She learned to dive in the school holidays last year and has already done 30 dives!

For her birthday Pip and I bought her a stuffed stingray (a toy one!), a paua necklace and a we had a wee party on the boat with balloons and lollies and yummy chocolate cake which we all tucked in to on Saturday night after a lovely night dive.

OH! AND!! … on the drive home, I discovered that Pip likes to try and sing the chorus from A-ha’s ‘Take On Me’ … I thought I was the only one!!!

A few extras …

  • Thanks again Grab One!  I’ve booked a 6 week yoga course.  I’m really looking forward to starting this.
  • And on Thursday night, I’m doing another Les Mills Sh’Bam! class but this time with someone else.  I’ve talked Ness in to coming along with me.
  • and a new item that will never leave my makeup bag …. LiftFusion Magic Wand.  I bought this little beauty from strawberrynet to fill out the number of purchases we needed for a discount – and holy calamity!  I’ve been using it in the morning and about 3:30pm when my eyes feel a little heavy.  The wand and a massive glass of ice cold water do wonders for my three thirty itis.
  • And last but not least, I’m posting this blog from my new bed!  No more sleeping on a ‘futon’ … yea nah not really a futon.  My poor old bed had done me well for the last 18 or 19 years but it finally gave up the ghost.  Tonight however, I am snuggled up and its delicious.
