Tuesday Rocks

Another couple of weeks been and gone!
It’s taken me a couple of days to write this post – I meant to publish it on Tuesday … but alas … that didn’t happen the way I planned it.
There’s no point in fooling you – its not Tuesday any more Dorothy!

Rugby World Cup 2011

Not only did the Rugby World Cup start with a bang … yes, that’s my pun alluding to the fireworks and the night we spent out on the boat watching (and photographing them) – but woah! what a tournament it is.
My post on Opening Night Fireworks is here.

Half the country seems to be sick to death of all the rugby speak yet the other half is scrambling for last minute tickets and if they are not at the game, they are queuing to get in to the FanZone’s that have been set up.  Or, like we did on the weekend for the All Blacks versus France game, we parked up on Cossie’s couch and yelled and screamed our way through 80 minutes of awesome rugby.

my workplace is covered in flags - and All Blacks bunting

Getting Wet

I spent a weekend teaching an Open Water course a couple of weekends ago – and it gave me the kick in the pants I needed.  I’m going through my dive gear – washing off the winter – and prepping it for a summer of fun!!

Salad Gardening

All ready to grow - and be eaten!

I’ve pulled out all the small trees that were growing and have fertilised and composted and blood and boned the pottager.  It was all ready for the spring plantings.

It is now host to celery, brocollini, leeks, cos lettuce, some parsley and of course, the marigolds to keep the bugs off.

My pottager pretty much fed me (and my salads) last summer.  And it does so in the winter too – but it just seems to look better in the summer.
Lots of big green vegetables and things that I can just cut off, rinse down and throw on my plate.  While I am having dinner outside … in the late evening warmth and light.

The start of summer and Daylight Savings

Saturday was an absolute stunner of a day.
Cate and I headed in to Ponsonby to take a look at the Ponsonby Road Markets – which I was relatively unimpressed with overall however I managed to find my friend Ben who drums with AK Samba.  And that was worth it.
Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to watch them play again ….

Then on Saturday night we set our clocks for day savings.  2am effectively became 3am.
Sunday morning was a bitch – but to make up for it … on Tuesday night at 7pm, I was sitting on the stairs with a cider – and my sunglasses on.  OOOOH YEA!

Thank goodness *summer is here!!
*may not actually be summer but 1/ I’m teaching diving classes and 2/ its light at 7pm so it’s close enough to call.
