This weekend it will be two years since I moved to Hamilton – I feel so comfortable here that it feels like longer. Life has changed a lot after leaving Auckland, it has slowed down, I’ve spent more time in my home and of course my boyfriend and I now live together. Seeing that he was the main reason for making this move in the first place, that little nugget isn’t that much of a surprise.
Ken and I have spent the last couple of week moving everything out of the beautiful (modern) Lighthouse; boy am I going to miss this place. Nixie Lix has grown up here, we had room for both the kids and the kitchen, oh the kitchen! A fridge with the drinks section and ice cold water/ice machine to the huge amount of bench space to the dishwasher. You’ll never value your dishwasher more than when you are moving to a place that doesn’t have one. Yikes!
Suffice to say that the new house doesn’t have a dishwasher. Or a garage. Or vege boxes, an ensuite, or a fridge that makes ice. It does however have a totally kick ass fireplace. And did I mention that it is in Hamilton Zoo??
Yes, we now live in the Zoo. It’s actually pretty cool.
It makes Ken’s on call weeks so much easier and we are going to be able to save quite a bit of money. And on the left hand side of our drive way we have lemurs and from our deck we can see spider monkeys. So whilst I miss my kitchen immensely, and there isn’t a place for me to set up my little studio (at least not at the moment), we do live in the coolest place ever.
I have a whole new side of town to explore so as soon as it stops raining, I am going to go back through my Model Database and see who wants to join me in some location scouting. If you have any great ideas about cool locations out Rotokauri way, let me know!
