The last time I wrote a Tuesday Rocks post was when Daylight Savings had just started. Now we are on the other end of it and Daylight Savings is ending.
Summer is over – not that it really ever began – the mornings are a lot darker and it is getting more and more difficult to get out of bed.
I am still working through the Drafts folder and I’d love to hear if you have any more suggestions on the posts I should finish or the posts I should write.
And that’s about the size of it too … slowly getting to grips with the fact that I can’t be everything to everyone when I am nothing to myself.
So what else?
Late to the party – The Republic of Telly
John tells me that this video is a few years old but since Ken’s sister posted it – and again for St Patricks Day – I watch it at least once a week. Aside from being catchy, it makes me laugh. Out loud. And sometimes coffee comes out the corners of my mouth.
A quick trip across ‘The Ditch’
Seriously – it was quick!
I headed over to Melbourne with a couple of other guys from work to be hosted by HP for 2 days. Well, a night and a day.
HP were holding a day of presentations from some of the R&D nerds. We left Auckland one afternoon, checked in to the hotel, had dinner on Lygon Street, went to sleep, conferenced all day and then basically ran through the airport on the plane back to Auckland. Phew!
But dinner was yum yum yummy!
My 2 hours with Marilyn
I’ve been really lucky and have been to the movies quite a few times lately. I didn’t realise how much I had missed going to the movie theatre to see a new film even though I do love watching them on the couch at home. But you know what its like when your movie date is a guy … compromise!!
I enjoyed the wine and port in business class and took the chance to watch a film I had been wanting to see – “My Week with Marilyn”.
Based on the book by the same name by Colin Clark, it is a look at the making of the film “The Prince and the Showgirl” which Marilyn starred in with Sir Laurence Olivier. I had heard that Michelle Williams was very good as Marilyn and I have to agree. Even after all this time – all the books and the movies – I still wonder if Marilyn herself was mostly an act that just got out of control. This film seems to allude to that. But it was a very enjoyable watch.
Congratulations and Safe Travels
Once I got back to the cosmopolitan city of Hamilton, we had an Engagement party to attend on the Friday night. I finally got to meet my friend Greer’s fiance (or Beyonce as she calls him) – Caleb. And his family. And her family. Far out – what a hilarious evening!!
I took a few photographs that night as well. This is one of my favourites. The crazy tears that come when a surprise guest arrives.
The weeks are just flying by so quickly.
I can’t believe that daylight savings ends this weekend and it is really autumn.
We’ll be in to winter before you know it. But then summer pops out the other end.
