On Monday, I am starting the Dukan Diet.
Hailed as the diet that the French have kept secret for years, the results speak for themselves – and I like results!!
My friend Emma and her husband Dan did the Dukan Diet before their wedding and they both look fantastic.
And then there is Princess Kate and her sister with that butt.
The Dukan Diet is a high protein apporach to food with 4 phases.
The first phase is an attack phase that will last around 6 days (according to my personal plan calculations). Â Over these 6 days, a very small list of foods is allowed however I’ve found some pretty great recipes with a minimal amount of googling. Â One that I think will be a firm favourite is a Chicken Omelette that I will post up soon.
In all honesty, I’ve got to do something.
Healthy May started with a fizz – and pretty much ended on that same fizz.
I don’t think I can count the number of posts in this blog where I have decided to do something but now I am getting older, there is more at stake. Â I don’t want to go through the next part of my life fighting the same old fight with my weight – and food.
After reading the Dukan Diet book and talking to people who have done it, and those that are doing it, it seems like something I can do too. Â Why not choose an eating plan where the foods you are allowed are the foods that I love?!
Except wine.
Oh Christ. Â First cigarettes, now wine. Â What am I doing to myself?
I’ve spent the last two days popping in and out of my Doctor’s office (and the Lab Tests office) having blood tests and all the like done. Â I feel like a pin cushion – both inside and out!
Annie – my doctor – says “everything in moderation Tara, including moderation” but she is happy for me to try this out. Â She’s even emailed me a couple of links for more information. Â We’ve got to keep an eye on my kidneys (polycystic kidney disease and high protein may not play well together).
And then when things get really tough, I have this blog to rant on – sorry guys.
And Bronnie is doing it too >>>Â Dukan it. | miss B.

Loving the support – thanks chicken xx
You kan du it!! (no, seriously; you CAN)
Thank you my sweet xx
Hi there. Came across your post and found it interesting. This will definitely give you the desired results that you want in the short term. However, consuming this much animal protein is not healthy. I believe women need to support each other and I don't want to bring you down but please research the effects of casein (the protein found in meat). I have a post on my blog that you may find interesting as well. http://thewellnessjunkie.com/2012/05/26/crazy-uns…
Good luck, dear.
Hi Danna,
Thanks for the comment and the link. I will go and have a read – and I am definitely all for hearing all sides of the story.
I really appreciate that you took a couple of moments to wish me good luck and to pass on some additional knowledge.
Have a lovely day, tara
Phew. I am so glad you weren't upset! I feel it is a real injustice that many people are not aware of the risks associated with eating meat and dairy. If you want a diet that will help you lose weight, avoid disease, feel amazing, have high energy and so much more, eat a whole food plant based diet. I promise you won't regret it when you see the benefits!
Oh no! I wasn't upset at all! It's nice to receive a 'hay good luck – but check this out too" comment rather than a scathing "you're an idiot".
I am quite pleased to see that the pure protein phase of the plan will only last for 6 days and then there will be an introduction of vegetables – as I mentioned, Dr Annie said moderation is the key and I'm with her on that. We'll see how it goes. I have a terrible track record with taking care of myself, especially around eating right, however 40 is closer and closer every day and I owe it to myself to pull my finger out and be kinder to my body.
LOL. Well, now is a better time than never! You can do whatever you put your focus on! Good luck, I will check back to see how you're doing!
woop woop! it's on!! xx
