The playlist for Sunday afternoons differ a lot from Sunday to Sunday.  Usually depending on the weather.  And the chores list.

I love my music library.  It has taken many years of CD collecting, weeding out that bad music that ex-boyfriends (and old friends) seem to introduce and many hours of cataloguing.  It might sound a wee bit silly … but I am actually quite proud of it.  I cried when my iPod was stolen as it was the largest classic you could get and I could carry my entire library with me.  My nano is just not the same.

I use a few apps and some sites to discover new music.  And I scrobble – you know, last.fm collects my listening data (ooooh data collection – cry foul!!) and gives me a few recommendations.

This weekend, I am wombling between writing a guest post on scuba diving in the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve, doing my laundry and tidying the corner of chaos in my bedroom – which has actually taken over 60% of my bedroom.
Oh, and it is rainy.

It is not a bad day.  Not one bit.
I am in a great mood as not only did the All Blacks wallop France in the Rugby World Cup last night, but I changed the channel to catch the end of the Warriors game against the Melbourne Storm in the NRL Semi Finals to watch them win too!
Go New Zealand rugby – both union and league!

The playlist today contains mostly tracks from the Ninja Tune label.  One artist in particular – but let’s start with a little all around Ninja Tune goodness.

The label was started back in 1990 by the group that we knew as Coldcut – Matt Black and Jonathan More.
They had previously hosted a radio show – Solid Steel – which turned in to a podcast and more.
In 2010, they celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the label.

Here is a section of the Coldcut set at the Eurokennes festival.  Videoscratch they call it –  its just the sort of audio and visual extravaganza that I will pay good money to see.

Mr Scruff has to be one of my favourite artists on the Ninja Tune label.
Real name Andy, Mr Scruff starting DJ-ing in 1994.  “Get a Move On” came out in 1999 and has been used in advertisements for Volvo and French Telecom.

The drawings in his videos are done by Mr Scruff himself (in a style he calls ‘Potato Style’) but he is more famous for his lengthy sets – up and around the 5 hour mark.

Tunes more than appropriate for a lazy Sunday when its just time to cruise.
