It’s been a long time between posts. Bloody hell, how many times do you read that? Have many times have I written that???

After New Zealand came out of Lockdown in April, we have slowly but surely got back to our old normal – after saying that the old normal wasn’t something that we really wanted. I have made a few changes and these changes are partly what this post is about.

We still live in Hamilton Zoo. I can’t see that changing any time soon. As old as our house is, and even though we have absolutely no storage whatever, we actually love it here and so do the dogs.
I still go over and try and photograph the animals to get the unique photograph I don’t have yet. The last time I walked around Hamilton Zoo with my camera, I shot the Cotton Top Tamarin watching visitors – with the cutest little hands!

Now onto the other important hearts in my life;
Nix will be 8 in April and Bogie the Hammer will be 4 in June! Her little eyebrows are starting to go grey and he, well he is just a bloody idiot.
Ken is also a bloody idiot – and will be REALLY old in Dec (coming up to 50) – holy shit. That also means I am not far behind.
But generally our household is pretty damn cool. We have a chill home life – it’s our safe place. It hasn’t changed a lot in the last year – we were all more than fine with spending 4 weeks at home with each other.

So what else has been happening around here?

Doing: I have started the next two papers for my Diploma in Business (Applied Marketing and Accounting). Marcia has programmed it so we should finish these and then our very last papers hopefully by the end of the year. It will be great to get that out of the way and done. I have a couple of days to really pull finger and get the first half of each paper done and dusted as March is looking incredibly busy!
I’m also training (updating my training) to do the Tongariro Crossing again at the end of March. Just getting the legs in good working order and making sure my endurance is up to it.

Watching: Every weekend we wait for a new episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and otherwise we alternate between movie series like Jurassic Park and The Avengers or new shows. Together we are watching Your Honour and when it’s just me I am still trying to finish Bridgerton and now I’ve started New Amsterdam.
Using when I am working, on an assignment or a blog or some coaching materials. I’ll watch something comforting and simple (usually that I have seen more than once) – like Friends.

Reading: I finally picked up a book!!! Ken Follet writes an amazing story – A Column of Fire is the third book in the Knightsbridge series. It’s complex and exciting and descriptive and based on history. All the things I love in a good escape from reality.

Making: NOT BANANA BREAD! Even though that did happen over Lockdown, these days I am leaving the baking to Ken. He likes the muffins and breads and cookies that come with our meal suggestions. When it comes to making and creating, I’m on a hiatus. I’m only photographing for me – I’m not taking on any clients or any photography work at all. Not for at least 6-12 months. As you’ve read, I have A LOT of other shit happening.
I’m making mini gains on my strength – and so my overall health and fitness. I decided that this year was not going to be about losing weight – AT ALL – I was going to get comfortable in this body finally and enjoy everything that it can do – and lift and how it moves and how slow it runs!

Planning: I’m intending to finish all that study I mentioned above – and then complete the PN Level 2 Master Coach certificate.

Being Content With: Finishing the things that I have started – my current coaching Project (The Great Food Great Mood Project), my Diploma papers, my book.
Focusing on recovery as much as training. Getting some good quality deep sleep – more than once a week!
Not adding too many more things to my To Do list! I can instantly think of 4, 5 or 11 other things I would like to do this week, but I need to be aware that not everything is possible or important.

That’s actually a good lesson from 2020. Asking myself, before I make things even more busy and hectic for myself, is it really important?
