In April I launched this years PawTraits project using PledgeMe – which is the crowdfunding platform that we successfully funded the project on last year.

Today I had to be real with myself and admit that the PawTraits Project on PledgeMe (which is ALL or NOTHING) wasn’t going to meet the goal that I had set. I had wanted to raise $1000 to be able to donate 3 Pet Photography Sessions and a 16×20 canvas to families from anywhere in New Zealand.  With 3 days to go, we have just under $600 to raise and even though I am a seriously optimistic person, I’m not going to fool myself.  Or the people who nominated the 36 families – and the families are what these projects are really about.

So.
I had a long hard think about what I was trying to with all the projects and the fundraising and the donations and where my efforts were best directed.

I have just closed my Patreon page – another platform that had the possibility of providing monies for these donated sessions.  I never gave it the attention that it deserved and I felt guilty about it and the people who supported me. I love the idea of creating and sharing content however my ‘content’ is created for specific families.

I will let the PledgeMe project run its course because I can’t find a way to unpublish it or close it down but I’ve sent out an update to those who have pledged and are following along.

And I have updated my Giving Back programme.  Instead of using a bunch of different ways to help people, I’m going to keep it super simple; I’ll donate a portion from EVERY session to my chosen charities and I’ll run a PawTraits project on Givealittle every Autumn through to Spring.

And the very very best news?
Through Givealittle, we’ve already raised enough for our first session.  Where are we going?  Wait and see!!!
