Back in March I was contacted by Amanda, one of the Trustees of Chained Dog Awareness NZ, about photographing a charity calendar for them to promote awareness and raise some much needed funds.
The team at Chained Dog Awareness work around the clock to end LIFE chaining of dogs by educating owners and by working to change the current law so there is protection and prevention of a dog spending its life imprisoned on the end of a chain. They educate, raise awareness and rescue. They are the only charity that specialises working with predominantly chained dogs, and have gained many years of experience and expertise in this area.
Everyone working with CDANZ are volunteers who give their time freely to help those who can’t speak for themselves.
It just astounds me that LIFE chaining is legal in New Zealand. To get an idea of what this means, take a look at the CDANZ website: What is a Chained Dog?
Calendars are available via the CDANZ Shop – buy and support this wonderful group and whilst you are there, please please please sign the petition to end life chaining in New Zealand.
Between myself and my wonderful friend and mentor Kimberley Kent from Tall Tails Pet Portraits, I think we created something pretty special. It makes my heart sing to donate my time to causes like this. $15.00 from every session goes to Chained Dog Awareness and my other charities.
