The last six months have absolutely flown by – I don’t even know where the time has gone – and I’ve neglected the blog part of my blog. I know I have raved on about pet photography and photography sessions and the like, but the photos I have taken for my Sunday in the Life posts and my Kitchen Adventures are still sitting in Lightroom all unedited and unloved. I’ve also been wanting to add some photographs of what I have been doing in the house, the studio and the garden.

Ahhh, the house.
My landlord – the lovely Leonie – got in touch on Monday to tell me that it was coming up to my one year anniversary and did I want to continue my tenancy. Do I ever!? I love this house and I’m going to do a few more blog posts on why and how I’ve made it my home.

I’ve nicknamed the house in Hamilton ‘The Lighthouse’ because for the most part, there is always sun streaming in somewhere. Here is a photograph of the living room before the furniture arrived – love it!

But it’s a little different in winter as the sun is lower and I think this is what has kicked off my incessant need to fill the house with colour.

There is a small amount of colour in every room at the moment – white and yellow and a bit of gold in my office/studio, rust and red in the master bedroom, bright apple green in one of the spare bedrooms while the living room is currently the darkest room with red, black and only a tiny splash of pink and purple – I WANT MORE! I’ve been subscribing to Instagram feeds like mad and I’ve added all sorts of new and lovely design blogs to my feedly. I’m also slowly but surely getting out and about and acquainting myself with the design stores of Hamilton.

I’ve ‘hired’ my Mom to be my Interior Design Advice Angel – and by hired I mean I take her on Skype walks around the house, she draws me layouts of rooms and iMessages them through to me and I have created a shared Pinterest board where I’ve been madly showing her what I like and she’s been commenting favourably – or not as the case may be!
She’s the interior design guru around these parts (and sometimes I remind her that people would pay for her advice!)

The house will always be a work in progress – and I’m happy with that. I love how trends change and the things I like can move around the house. I have been in the house almost a year and in that time, things have moved around quite a lot and I’m anticipating them moving around a bit more as we slide out of winter in to spring. For example, my bedroom the day I moved in vs now.

The Light House

Very excited to have our 'big bed' back in the bedroom. On our way to sumptuousness - yayy!

Movement and colour … and loads more light! I’m looking forward to all of it.
