and so it continued ..

sunday morning came way too early.  i had gone to bed as soon as i arrived home from the poor knights and had set the alarm just in case.  i jumped out of bed and did a quick survey of the tree house to make sure all was in order and then hit the market for some last minute provisions.
alex seemed to be a lot more organised than i was and when i got back, she was at my place ready and waiting.  i sure did appreciate another pair of hands – and the bottle of bubbles that we quickly opened!

i had decided on a sunday garden party rather than the standard saturday night in a noisy bar in town with everyone shouting at each other and then the horrendous drunken stumble around town in search of something slightly classier.  the other part of this theory was that if we started earlier (11am), then we would finish earlier too.  i had thought that i would be comatose at the bottom of the stairs by about 3 or 4pm.  well ……

things didnt work out quite the way i planned.  it was ever better than i planned and even better than i hoped for!

the ladies were all lovely in their dresses and their hats.  and pete and lindsay both arrived in tuxedos with bow ties.

the rum punch went down a treat (half a bottle of fiji bounty rum, half a bottle of captain morgan spiced rum, 1l pineapple juice, 1l orange juice, 1l ginger ale, 1l lemonade) and at the end of the day, there was more wine left in my fridge than there was at the start of the day.

the one thing i really hadnt prepared for was the weather.  and not of the bad raining kind.  more of the full on, burn your scalp sunshine flavour.  i could have done with at least one, if not two, more umbreallas.  we managed though – shifting it around throughout the day and hiding under the trees when possible.  i was a good girl, i kept reapplying the sunblock, but it didnt seem to be doing much.

i was very very lucky with the weather, with the lovely plates that people bought, with the presents i received, and with all my lovely friends and family who could make it on the day.
