60 days ago I half heartedly agreed to give the 365 Project another go.  I was peer pressured in to it I tell you!
If I take the time to be completely honest with myself, I didn’t expect to get this far.

1/8th completed.  I know it is not a lot.

We have a Facebook group for a few of our friends who are all completing the project.
It’s most often used to give each other ideas and a little bit of shit.  You can probably tell who is in this group by reading the comments and likes on each days Facebook post!
We egg each other on.  It’s amazing how much encouragement comes from a group that is spread all over the country.
A couple of the group are here in Auckland but we don’t get to catch up all that often.  In fact I think I have seen each of them, separately, only once in the last 60 days.

My Dad was up the other day and I showed him through my project.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed them and that he thought they were really good.  My Dad is not the kind of person to say something like that just because and I heard him mention it more than once to my uncle and aunt over the weekend.  That gave me the warm fuzzies.

Man Cave

Day #54 - Man Cave This is one of my Uncles garage areas. He has ... 10 - 12 water pumps and old engines and quite honestly the most crap I have ever seen in one place. He took Dad and I on a tour. A very well described tour. I learned all manner of things. It was a shame that I had completely the wrong lens with me for this sort of man cave madness! It is probably not the best of the photographs that I took that day but its my 365 for the experience more than anything.

When I went down to visit Mom and told her what I was doing, she got quite in to it.
I was there for a few days so she staged a few things for me and gave me ideas and helped me write some of the accompanying text.
I enjoy writing the text almost as much as taking the photographs.

Moth to the Flame

Day #19 - Moth to the Flame There's no place like home. I love coming home and hanging out with my Mommy. Like a moth drawn to the flame, we return to our roots, our family, our home. I wrote those words on Friday night and in true Mommy form - hearing these words made her weap, just a little. I suggested that she concentrate on my dinner. Yes, more cooking and less weaping woman.

I love looking back through the albums of my 365 Project.
The photographs remind me of days, of locations and of things I did.  I also love that the project gives me even more of an excuse to trip around, to stop and look, to consider life and objects differently.
I have sold two of them already. Not bad for the girl who can’t draw – or dance or sing – or do basically anything considered arty!

At only 15% of the way through, I know that there are a lot more photographs to come.
I also love not knowing what they will be.

I spend a lot of time thinking about the project – or more accurately my photograph for the day.
I also love talking about it!

Pretty early on I did a bit of goggling to see if there were many other people out there doing the same thing and I came across the 365Project.org.
There are hundreds/thousands of people all over the world doing a 365 project.  Their comments and their photographs urge me along as well – there are some really talented and creative people out there in the world and photography makes me feel like one of them.

Just this week, one of my favourite photographs so far made it in to the Top 20 on 365Project.
Pleased as punch I am!  That is it at the bottom of the block on the right hand side …

Let Me Out

Day #48 - Let Me Out I'm trying to avoid more sunsets but I love evening light! I restrained from getting in the car and going out and made myself look around home again. The agapantha out the front has a lot more room and light now that the council have gone psycho cutting back some trees and its not only budding, but the buds are escaping. Just a couple of nights ago, these buds were really small - no where near opening.

Another 305 days to go.
I’ve got no idea what will happen in those days but it is exciting to think about!

After a wee bit of prodding – and a large push from Amber – I set up a SmugMug site so that people could purchase a print or a canvas or a mug.
I haven’t added all of the photographs, just my favourites so far and some underwater photographs and ones from my travels.  You can also click the prints link over on the right at the top of the page.
RobI said he’d take a coffee book when I was finished.  I think I’d buy one of those myself!
