This morning Miss Nixie Lix has been helping me test lighting setups and some backdrops in my studio.
Calling it my studio is really a stretch – its actually a small bedroom in our house, an office, but calling it my studio sounds all creative like and almost acknowledges that the disorganisation is supposed to be there. And its where I do all my work so why not!?
The list of things I need to finish off before the end of November is having items crossed off at a good pace and I’m really getting in to the groove. I’ve spent the last week getting to grips with the numbers that are important to my business and now that I understand my costs, I can finish the last part of my business plan. Lists, spreadsheets and plans are totally my thing! A few days ago I tweeted “there are no limits to what I can accomplish when I am supposed to be doing something else” and I think that will always be true but its becoming more and more apparent that what I really want is to balance out my number one (IT) job with this photography business. And of course some sleeping in!
Watching: Yes we are still watching Supernatural – Season 9 landed on Netflix so there was no way we were stopping! And thanks to LightBox, I discovered Homeland. Why on earth don’t I start watching these shows when they come out along with everyone else? I have managed to catch up to the current season and I’m still uttering ‘holy shit!’ at the end of each episode. Season Three went a little weird but not weird enough for me to give it up. Damian Lewis caught my attention in Band Of Brothers and its great to see that his acting style has just gotten better – his face is so expressive! And then I’ve started watching The West Wing again .. and when we were in Wellington Sarah gave me a list of other shows I need to get in to – so aside from making time for my business, and sleeping, I obviously need to prioritise binge telly watching!
Listening To: All the playlists that other people create! Got any recommendations for me? This is my current favourite Spotify playlist … its perfect and not just for mornings.
Reading: The first time I read it, it was known as the Crossstitch series but for some reason it is now known as Outlander. Its the story of a woman who ends up back in time, in Scotland in 1742, after investigating a stone circle. The series started on Lightbox and then I picked up the books again. Its nice to get lost in a story.
Thinking About: Summer holidays. End of story. Bring ’em on.
Making Me Happy: My Dad is coming to stay with us for a while. I’m really looking forward to having him here.

I’ve just discovered New Music Tuesday on Spotify! Sure its no longer Tuesday but that’s not stopping this being a new addition to my favourite playlists.
